Juniata College Bahá'í Club

The Juniata College Bahá'í Club is part of a network of Bahá'í Clubs on campuses and universities world-wide. Bahá'í Clubs provide a framework for students of all backgrounds and spiritual perspectives to work together to promote the principles and tenets of world peace and unity as outlined by the Prophet-Founder of the Bahá'í Faith, Bahá'u'lláh. Some of these principles include the recognition of the oneness of humanity, elimination of prejudice of all kinds, equality of the sexes, recognition of the essential harmony between science and religion, a belief in the common foundation of all world religions, a quest for the elimination of the extremes of wealth and poverty, and the establishment of a peaceful and just world order.

Focus:

The Juniata College Bahá'í Club holds regular discussions and open devotions that serve as a forum for students to explore issues relating to their spirituality in a context of open discussion and in the spirit of independent investigation of the truth. Although the Writings and teachings from the Bahá'í Faith serve as a focal point, perspectives from students of other religions and those who are independently spiritual are encouraged to enrich the lively and stimulating dialogue. The Club also participates in service projects and activities that put spiritual principles into action.

Activities:

Firesides - informal discussions on the spiritual nature of a variety of topics as they apply to personal, communal and global development.

Topics covered include:

Deepenings- focused study on Bahá'i Writings that deal with a topic of interest

Open Devotions- reflections and Holy Writings from all spiritual perspectives and traditions

Service Projects to further the aims of world peace and stewardship of the planet. These include participation in annual Earth Day events and in a community Adopt-a-Highway project.

Activities to promote the oneness of humankind, such as sponsoring panel discussions featuring students from different religions and participating in the community-wide celebrations of the International Day of Peace and World Religion Day.

Social events, which include such activities as dawn hike, bike hikes, cookie bakes, and Diversions  or "Diversity Excursions", which involve having fun with people of diverse backgrounds in a celebration of the oneness of humanity.

Membership:

Membership is open to all Juniata College students, faculty, staff, alumni, and members of their families, regardless of their religious affiliation. We welcome diversity of membership to reflect the central principle of the Faith as stated by Bahá'u'lláh, “The earth is but one country and mankind its citizens”.
